Group Activities

For many of the Interest Groups, you don’t necessarily need experience or particular skills, the ‘Leader’ learns along with the members of the Group, Enthusiasm is important, together with a  time to spare, the desire to be part of a friendly team and to be with like-minded members.

If you, or anyone you know of, is able to offer any help, with or without knowledge of the subject,

please do make contact with  the Group Co-ordinator via the contact button at the top of the page.

Mindfulness

What is Mindfulness?

Mindfulness means maintaining a moment-by-moment awareness of our thoughts, feelings, bodily sensations, and surrounding environment, through a gentle, nurturing lens.

Mindfulness also involves acceptance, meaning that we pay attention to our thoughts and feelings without judging them—without believing, for instance, that there’s a “right” or “wrong” way to think or feel in a given moment. When we practice mindfulness, our thoughts tune into what we’re sensing in the present moment rather than rehashing the past or imagining the future.

Our Mindfulness Group started in 2016. We are a friendly and supportive group . We were guided by a member who had used mindfulness in her career in mental health plus sourcing information and meditations etc from books and the internet.

At the end of the course we all wanted to continue to meditate together so we meet monthly, we don’t have any tuition now but members take turns to suggest a meditation or reading. Plus of course a break for tea!

When: The last Wednesday in the month at 2 p.m. for 6 months then the Group will decide how they would like to proceed.
